The results from the Dover Dodge ball Tournament in honor of John G. Curtin:
March 24, 2011 proved to be a true spirit of community and sportsmanship. The evening started with a beautiful presentation of the flags by the VFW, accompanied by a heartfelt vocal rendition. The combination of the two presentations lent a nostalgic tone of support and respect to everyone who filled the school’s gymnasium. It was evident that the emphasis from this collaborative effort was to assist and supportLCpl John G Curtin and his family. The forum of the tournament was delivered in a speech by John’s cousin Katelyn, who reassured the packed gymnasium that all proceeds, including recyclables would be used to assist John & his family during his stay in Washington. With practically standing room only, the crowds' energy and spirit grew with each match as they watched the teams compete. Everyone played with such determination and vigilance especially the Humdingers, John’s alumni team who represented him well.
Many of the original Humdinger players attended the competition to lend their personal support. John’s team played well but the faculty was able to clench the win this year. The student win was well earned by team Head Shots. The evening represented a true community coming together for a school event with clear heart and representation for an alumni hero. MSG Varsity was also present and able to document this event. For more information about Dover Dodge ball Tournament visit www.magvarsity.com. On behalf of all of John’s family we would like to extend a special thanks to everyone who made this event so successful.
